Turkey Time

Happy Thanksgiving from Warner Robbins, Georgia. We got in LATE yesterday after spending about 3+ hours in Atlanta traffic. Our second "short" drive that was supposed to be about three and a half hours turned into almost seven hours after slow traffic the whole entire way.

Regardless, we weren't in a hurry and babygirl is an awesome traveler so that made for a very easy trip even if it was a significantly longer trip than we had anticipated.

We stayed in a Holiday Inn in Manchester Tennessee on Tuesday night and bg did great, sleeping all the way through the night while mom and dad imbibed in some much needed bud light and Italian carryout. It was a great evening and a good start to our Thanksgiving holiday.

Well, it's time for me to make some broccoli cheese casserole, so Happy Turkey Day to all, we miss all you family and friends that we are not there with today and hope you are all having a great time!

Eat a lot, drink a lot and be merry!

happy turkey day!!

So many things to blog about...
So little blogging time

I really have absolutely no time for this today, but it was such a great weekend, I just had to give a little update. We had a great time Friday at the Muldrows just hanging out, watching the best show on tv, the office, and playing a little battle of the sexes trivial pursuit. It was a fun friday night!

Saturday was mostly cleaning day at the Delanty's in preparation for babygirl's big baptism day. We did a lot of work, but in the end the house looked nice and we had a nice party for everyone.

Sunday was the big day and it went great. The baptism was very long and my feet paid the price in my new boots, but it was nice and was a good service. Babygirl had enough by about 1/2 an hour into it, but she did well even though we pushed feeding her to the absolute limit. I felt bad, but didn't realize the service would be an hour long! Thanks to Aunt Kim who was a great photographer and thanks to everyone who was a part of such a special day for us and babygirl!

Sunday also brought with it some bad, sad news. The webmasters have now been brought down for the second time. Yes, I suffered my second loss of the season to Big10 of all people. They didn't even post any smack talk to rub it in. I was so busy preparing for the party and baptism that I didn't barely check my fantasy at all or even show much interest in this weeks game. I think the fantasy gods must have sensed all that bad karma and punished me. So, this week, even remotely, I will come back stronger than ever!

That is really all I have time for today as I think my head might explode if I start thinking about all the dishes and mess downstairs, the two client deadlines I have today, the fact I need to put in about 4 hours onsite at the closet, pack up our selves and a new baby, play volleyball, pick up the crib from mom and dad... aaahhhh see I shouldn't have even started typing it all out cause I might have a mini melt down right now.

I'll be posting from the road next time!

To snow or not to snow?

Does it bug the hell (sorry, but I think I can say hell in my blog) out of anyone else the way the weather people sensationalize what is clearly NOT going to be any big deal of a snowfall? I mean, if I hear "be prepared for our first bout with winter weather" or "I'll tell you how much snow you can expect" come out of Cindy Prezler or Mike Bush's mouth one more time, I might lose it... permanently.

I realize I'm in the minority here, but I love and look forward to a good 'ole fashioned snowfall and I absolutely HATE (I think I'm harboring some deep childhood resentment here) when they get my hopes up about snow and then I awake at 3am, 4am, 5am and run to the window hoping to catch a glimpse of white everywhere and I am met with only darkness and drizzle. Grrrrrr....

This year, I am starting the official "see how many times the weather people are wrong about winter weather" count. We'll just see IF they ever get it right all season. Tonight is the first installment. Check back tomorrow to see how close they were. So far, at the 6pm news they were forecasting for 1-2 inches in the St. Louis metro area. I'll be watching the 10pm news here in 10 minutes and I'll jump back on and repost if that forecast has changed.

That is all for tonight. Babygirl and I had a long day of working inside. I must say on days like today it is extremely nice to be able to hole yourself up inside your house and work. No getting bundled up or driving in the rain...well, that is unless you decide you must have a southwestern chicken salad from Jack in the Box and you do have to bundle up your not-even 3 month old and drive 10 miles to the nearest JITB..but again I digress.. she was great today. I got so much done and she is really falling into being a perfect baby. She takes long naps now and doesn't only cry when awake. She still goes through a pretty rough period in the evening, but like I said, I can deal with that easily compared to what we went through early on.

Allright, back to work for me (new business keeps me busy - I'm almost ready to let everyone in on it, just a few more days or weeks).

"Stay tuned we'll have your full updated forecast on some white stuff headed our way, coming up in just a few minutes"... yeah right Cindy.

p.s. - I just thought the dogs in the snow were cute, that's all.

p.p.s. Update 10:22pm - Cindy says
- "if the rain moves out before the cold weather moves in, then we won't see any precipitation in the form of snow"... brilliant Cindy, thanks for that meterological-ese insight for us lay people that just wouldn't understand COMMON SENSE. Anyway, they are still calling for 1-2 inches and don't forget "for the latest on winter weather tune in to today in St. Louis at 5am - Scott will have the latest on our dynamic weather system..."

Weekend Recap

New pictures up on Shutterfly! Be sure to check out the link on the right. They are from Tommy's 25th bday and yet another babygirl photoshoot. If you haven't signed up at Shutterfly, you are missing out! Click on my link (AKA big advertisement) on the right and you can receive free prints! (Not to mention I get credit too.) I just love Shutterfly's collections and photobooks. Okay, I digress from the point of my post, but it really is good guys!

We had a pretty good weekend, it was very low key since Tim and I decided to come down with pretty harsh colds, we didn't do a whole lot. We did manage to get the house cleaned up on Saturday so that was a nice feeling. There is still a lot of work to be done before her baptism, but at least we're getting there.

I went and looked at bridesmaids dresses with Christina on Saturday. That is so exciting! It will be a busy wedding season this spring, but I am looking forward to it. I hope so much to be back down to a normal size by her wedding. It's my goal for the winter to get back into shape. Tim and I have already started our own little "biggest loser" contest, so hopefully that will help as anything that is turned into a competition certainly helps me to stay focused. I'm really excited for their wedding, though, seeing as it has been a long time in coming and Christina certainly deserves this time. It will be really fun being a part of this with her and Kim. We'll have some fun!

Today on Oprah they are talking to a woman who claims to have unlocked the secret language of babies. So, we will definitely be watching that as the question I ask babygirl the most is unfailingly, "what?", "what's wrong?", "what do you want?". Hopefully this baby lady knows what she's talking about. I hate to get my hopes up, but so far this morning she was already right about one thing and I learned that just by looking at her website! I have my dad and all my friends with babies on alert to watch it today, so we'll see what happens!

Babygirl is still doing awesome sleeping wise. We've had a couple of nights of early wakeups, but I'm sure that's just because she is hungry. Other than that, she is sleeping for stretches of 8-10 hours at a time. Life is great! She still has her early evening fussy period almost every night, but we are working through that and have gotten quite used to it and almost come to expect it.

More to come later. Go Webmasters (sorry, kim!)

Quick squirrel update: we still have the little guy conducting squirrel aerobics classes on Monday mornings from 7-8:30am (see previous post about squirrel scenarios) so we are not sure what we are going to do... I'll keep you updated!

"What's that sound? You hear it?
It's a funny squeaky sound."

Well, it is Friday and I've gotten little to no work done today. Babygirl was good, just a little high maintenance today so I spent a fair amount of time playing and hanging out with her. That was one thing, but the funniest thing was when my husband decided to try and rid our attic of a friendly little visitor I lovingly refer to as Mr. Squirel ("squirrely, squirrely, squirrely...i love you little squirrely" - for you tpd). Unfortunately after climbing into the attic and searching around for the little beady eyed creature, careful not to put a foot in the drywall and through the ceiling, we were unsuccessful in locating his home.

You may be wondering how we know we have a squirrel(s) in the attic. It actually took a lot of deducing. At the beginning of the week, I continually heard weird noises coming from down the hall. In a matter of minutes, I went from thinking our house was being robbed to then deciding, after failing to find said intruder, that those noises had to be from a ghost in the attic. I finally investigated outside by the gaping hole where the chimney once stood (don't even have time for that story) and sure enough as if smiling at me and singing "nah, nah, nee, boo boo" was a little squirrel perched right on the opening to the attic (again where there is a huge HOLE in the side of the house). This was Tuesday and since then we have heard him scurrying and scratching feverishly at something. We can only guess what he is doing up there, but I do have fun making up those scenarios...but again, I digress...

It was all fun and squirrel games until last night when tpd said, "turn the monitor way up in babygirl's room, I want to make sure we can hear if the squirrel gets in there" that I freaked out a little. Having a visitor running a late night squirrel's only bar and grill (one of the aforementioned scenarious) in the attic is one thing, having it scratch a hole in the ceiling to my 11 week old's room is another story.

So today was the day to evict our unauthorized houseguests (kinda like when we have to kick the Muldrow's out after being here for weeks on end - just kidding Muldrows!). As we ascended into the attic we were both fairly terrified, as we were completely unprepared to do anything with it had we actually come across the critter. It would have undoubtedly been like that scene in Christmas Vacation where the squirrel jumps out of the Christmas tree right onto one of us and the continues to wreak havoc on the house. Our only plan of action was having Brogan hang out at the bottom of the ladder in case the little guy ran for the attic opening. Brilliant plan! Alas, no dog/squirrel fight happened, but I woulda had money on the squirrel anyway.

Clark: Russ, go get the hammer.
Ellen: Clark, what do you need a hammer for?
Clark:I'm gonna catch it in the coat... And smack it with the hammer.
Ellen: You are not going to kill that squirrel in front of all these kids!
Clark
: Well honey, what do you suggest?

Basically our visitor lived to throw another dance party (yet another scenario - picture little squirrel dj booth's and sipping martini's in the corner of the attic). We'll see what happens, but babygirl may be back sleeping in our room if we hear anymore funny squeaky sounds...as long as Liggy's not here (mememememememememe)!

I'll keep you posted! Happy weekend to all!

Halloween candy IS the devil!

There is so much Halloween candy in this house I can't even stand it. I'm not even a candy person, but of course I buy the two types of Halloween candy I can't resist: snickers (may I interest you in a snickers fine sir) and the ultimate candy of all candies in the universe - the peanut butter cup. The perfect combination of chocolate and creamy peanut butter in a cute little ridged cup. I mean - pure GENIUS! Any other type of sweet I can take or leave, but you put together a little peanut butter and chocolate and watch out. It certainly doesn't help that now there are 50 little beautiful orange cups sitting on my dining room table that I have to walk by at least 100 times a day. So far I've resisted it every time, but this torture has got to stop.

Someone please take them off my hands since I don't have the heart to throw them away. I've somehow managed throughout my life to project human emotion on inanimate objects. So, in my head, I think if I threw them away they'd all be sad and thinking about how they missed out on their one big candy moment and now they are doomed to be foraged on by animals or rot in a dump. Sick, I know... That and I spent $20 bucks on candy that I don't want to go to waste!

Please email me if you are interested in giving these little guys a good home. Offers will be accepted throughout the end of the week. I'll even throw in their little friends milky way and three muskateers (if tpd hasn't done away with all of them)!

Well, on to work. I have a huge client development meeting tomorrow and all I can do is sit here and think about the little orange and brown beauties downstairs.. fighting fighting the urge to go get one and to stop trying to justify that reese's peanut butter cups will actually make me work harder and smarter.

Oh yeah, if I can snap my brain out of candyland, the pic is of Babygirl this morning. She just looked so cute hugging her little teddy I couldn't resist. The outfit (although you can't really see it - is SO cute) is from Erin and Jeremy Moyer (AKA Hutch and J-Mo). They are expecting their first little babygirl Ava James at the end of January! I am very excited for them and have already bombarded her with my "new mom" lessons learned and expectations. I'm sure she is eternally grateful for my nonstop insight. Regardless, congrats to them and thanks for the adorable outfit - she wears this one all the time! Happy Wednesday to all! Posted by Picasa

Tired Tuesday

I cam barely keep my eyes open to work, so I thought a little blog burst might help. It always gets my adreneline pumping when I work on the blog. The weekend was nice although busy. On Friday, we had a big birthday celebration for Uncle Tommy and everyone had a great time. I haven't downloaded the pics yet (I know can you believe it...) but I will soon. Then Saturday we all convened to watch the Mizzou game and have some wings at the fabulous Helen Fitzgerald's. Unfortunately, babygirl is a little too little for Helen's wings, but I cannot wait until she can basque in the beauty of a crispy little wing bathed in ranch dressing. It doesn't get much better.

Sunday was typical football day at the Delanty's where we spend most of the day trying to keep babygirl occupied so we can check fantasy all day. It was fairly successful since she slept most of the morning. We started the Sunday with breakfast at Bob Evan's after mass. It was quite the little family morning. Again, she couldn't partake in our favorite breakfast foods, but we all had a good time nonetheless.

Last night was a little rough in that I have acquired a lovely cold and am sleepier than usual because of it (that and all the work on the new business initiative) so that made it extra hard when BG decided to wake up at 2:45am. We've been so lucky with her sleeping through the night lately, but she was very hungry. I fed her 4 ounces and she went back down until almost 7:30am. We're still trying to get her on a good day schedule with naps, but, the nights are still easy. She goes down to sleep without a fight and if she does wake to eat, it is usually a quick feed and back to bed.

Well, I guess it's back to work as this has somewhat helped me to revive myself. On a plus side I won my fantasy football game yesterday beating out li'l g and bringing me to 8-1 and we won 2-3 in volleyball solidifying our playoff status. I love playing volleyball - I missed it so much. I love the game itself and the exercise and just the time. It's awesome that we made the playoffs - now we just gotta win the whole thing! Happy Tuesday to all.

Spooky Halloween Babies

Okay, so they're not as scary as they are adorable... We had a great Halloween, although I'm not so sure babygirl loves this holiday yet. Mommy made her put black stuff on her face and wear a bright orange outfit with way too big of a hood. She wasn't happy about it some of the time.

As you can see, her pal Matthew was an adorable pony. I am assured he is not taking after his Uncle Tommy, though, and will not be playing with little pink pony dolls anytime soon. You can see all of the pics and commentary on the Halloween festivities at delanty.shutterfly.com. (Link is on the nav bar on the right!)

As for other news in the Delanty household - Bridget is still sleeping almost through the night on a consistent basis. We're keeping our fingers crossed, but hoping this continues because it is soooooo... nice!

I am back working full time (have been working part time since she was born practically - a downside to working for yourself and owning your own biz) and for now we are making it work with help from my dad one day a week and squeezing time in whenever I can. Sometimes that means waiting until Tim gets home and working nights and weekends, but for now it is working okay. I like being back in the work world. I love the time I spend with babygirl, but I love designing (imagine that..) and working with clients, so I like that I can balance out the two quite effectively...at least for now. I am also working on another business idea (again, imagine that..) for the holiday season, so that is taking some time to try and throw together immediately. I'll post the site and idea when I get it completed. Hopefully this weekend.

Mom and Dad's lakehouse is also coming along nicely. I am so excited about it as I think it will be an awesome family and friend place to go and relax or just get away. I also have a few new pictures of it posted on my shutterfly site. See the links on the right to get to the shutterfly area. Anyway, hopefully by late winter or early spring we'll be able to start spending the night or weekends down there. At this point, there is only one bedroom ready so it's not too feasible to stay overnight. It will be a lot of fun, though!

Well, that's all for today. I am up very early since today babygirl did decide to wake up at 4:30am. She went back to sleep, but I figured as long as I was up I could get some work done and update the blog! Happy Friday to all! Posted by Picasa

Cardinals are WORLD CHAMPIONS!

Well, I can't believe it, but the Cardinals won the World Series! Tim was out of town in Kansas City for work, so that really stunk, but babygirl and I watched the Redbirds win with Mom and Becky. Well, babygirl didn't really see the end or care all that much, but the rest of us were VERY excited. We won after we went up 4-2 in the 8th inning and then Wainwright came in and got the last three outs. He did make it interesting by walking a batter and letting a run score, but nonetheless got a strikeout to win the game! It was the best feeling in the world watching that swing and miss! It was a little weird not sharing it with Tim, Mark or Dad, my three main sports influences in this world, but still very exciting and fun to watch with mom and Beck.

In addition to that exciting news, babygirl has also started sleeping for extremely long chunks of time. I'm not sure exactly why or how long it will last, but for the last 4 nights she's slept from about 10:30 to almost 8am. It's so amazing! I won't get my hopes up, but it is a very nice surprise that came out of nowhere! She is also very mellow these days. Again, kinda came out of nowhere... but we'll take it.

We're going to head down to the Cardinals victory parade today hopefully so that will be fun. The weather was miserable for the series, but for the parade today it is supposed to be 70 and sunny!

That's all for now. Congrats to the CARDINALS!!! Go Webmasters!

Happy Halloween and GO CARDS!

This is just one of the 100 plus pictures I took of Baby Girl for our halloween photo shoot. I'll have to post some of the other cute ones on my shutterfly collection soon. I just thought it was too cute so I had to post it on the blog.

Well, the weather is terrible, but hopefully tonight will be game 5 of the world series. I don't think it will get rained out, so that will be fun, but it's weird that we may win the world series tonight and I won't even be with Tim. He is in Kansas City for work and he'll probably watch it with Molly and work people. Oh well, at least Baby Girl and I can celebrate. It's not too bad to have a world series only two months into your life. Hopefully she will get to see more of them when she actually realizes the importance of the situation!

BG goes to the DR.

Baby Girl had to get three shots yesterday. It was sad, but she took it like the little champ she is. She cried for about 30 seconds after the first one and her face got as red as an irishman who had their guinness taken away, but then she was fine... well at least for a couple of hours...

After we left the doctor, we went to the mall and had lunch and then went and got invitations for her baptism. She slept the whole time. After about a 3-4 hour nap, she woke up and she was not happy. I'm not sure if it was the shots or just general fussiness, but boy did she let us know about it for the next 6 hours. After a rough evening, though, she slept from 10:30pm to 7:00am straight through. I woke up alarmed at 5am since I had been asleep for so long, but there she was just snoring away. She slept for 2 more hours and awoke as happy as could be. Hallelujah!

Other than that, she is in good health and weighs 12.5 lbs, a little big for her age, but we expected that since she is such a good eater!

The other picture is her wearing her cardinals shirt handed down from her best bud, Matthew. I just thought that picture was too funny since she looks so tiny on the big couch!

Be sure to check out Matthew's new blog at www.matthewmuldrow.com

M-I-Z Z-O-U

Well, it's Monday and I thought I would make a quick blog update. This weekend Tim and I went to Mizzou for Homecoming. It was a nice getaway. We left Miss Bridget with her Aunt Kim and Uncle Mark and she informed us she had a very good time. She is looking forward to spending LOTS of time over at her Aunt and Uncle's house.

Homecoming was great in that Mizzou won, but the weather was awful. It rained the whole day and the whole game and we were all soaked. We went with Ehlert and Jessica and met up with Quigley and some other Delts. Thank goodness for the ponchos Ehlert made us stop and buy at Walgreens on the way out of town. (Hey Poncho - what are you doing in my pocket? That's for you, tpd.) Anyway, all in all it was a great time, although I did learn that I am slightly too old to fight the Harpos' crowd. In my defense, I never really liked going to Harpos when I was in college, so it's not that much of a surprise that I don't like it now, but when the barely 21 year old door guy waved me in with a quick "I don't have time to card someone so obviously over 21" hand flip, I almost cried. It was definitely a sad moment after he had just stopped everyone else we were with. One look at Tim and I and we got the big wave by. Luckily, later in the day someone thought I was "such a young mother" until I told her I was 31 and she was flaborgasted (sp?). I'm not sure if that is because I look young or because she had been drinking since 10am, but I'll take it either way.

The picture at the top is Tim and I, Ehlert and Jess and our friend Rick "Ricky" from Farmhouse. We actually just met him at Harpos, but he ended up being really funny and we hung out with him for a couple hours. He even took us to Spanky's where we ended up watching the Cards win game 1 of the world series! It was a little bit of a mess when we first got there with some firecode issues, but we ended up having a great time there and the boys had a pool table they could play on all night and Jess and I made friends with a Mizzou mom and dad and talked to them most of the night. It worked out really well in the end.

This picture is of the Delt house deck. A homecoming tradition where a lot of the fraternities and sororities create a big piece of artwork for their house. Each year there is a theme and it is designed and then created with something called pomp or pom or something like that...it's a whole lotta work of rolling up that stuff and glueing it to big pieces of plywood. If you notice, there is a "CB" in the upper right hand corner of the house deck. That stands for Chris Brothers who was actually one of Tim's good friends and a Delta Tau Delta fraternity brother. He died in a car accident when Tim was still a student there and the house still honors him almost 10 years later by including the CB on the house deck every year. Tim thought it was a pretty cool tribute and tradition that they were still carrying on.

So, thanks again to AK and UM for taking such good care of our BG (hopefully anyone reading this is catching on to my abbreviations). She says next time don't chintz out on taking her to the Magic House since she knows you all have lifetime passes.

Happy Monday to all - GO CARDS!!

Custom Web Connections

Meet our latest web designer, Bridget Ainsley. She's pretty good at it already, but seems only mostly interested in the Similac and Huggies websites at this point. Now if I could only get some work done around here, that would be great. Maybe I should stop blogging and start working... at least that's what Tim would say.

Anyway, a quick week seven report finds us doing well. Bridget is sleeping well at night, although still having some issues during the day. For the most part, she is a very good baby, but she definitely likes to be entertained and will let you know about it when she's had enough of you or whatever activity you are trying to engage her in. We call her the "screecher" at times, because she doesn't really cry, it's more like screeching... almost like a cat or injured animal (and I mean that in the most loving, motherly way possible).

Well, that's all for the evening. Tonight is game 6 of the NLCS - Cards are up 3-2 over the Mets. GO CARDS!!! Posted by Picasa

Well, when we don't have anything else to do - we take pictures! I have so many cute ones from this photo shoot! I'll have to post them later. I need to go in and organize and clean them up. Anyway, just thought I would share this one cause it's too cute!

BIG smile!

Just this week we have seen lots of smiles coming from Miss Bridget! I've posted one I managed to capture with the camera. I'm sure there will be many more to come, but right now they are still hard to capture!

This weekend was BEAUTIFUL! Saturday we got out and enjoyed it after the Cards lost! Hopefully they will win tonight as I am watching it as I type this. We went to Mom and Dad D's and played some washers. It was a gorgeous night.

Today was the major undertaking of FINALLY cleaning out the garage. Dad D came over and helped and he and Tim got it done! It will be so nice to be able to park in there over the winter...as long as we can keep it clean until then.

We'll see what the week brings, but Bridget has been sort of falling into a semi-schedule, so hopefully that trend will continue and I'll get some hours of work time in a day.

New October pictures up on Shutterfly. Click on the link to your right. Once again, sorry - you really have to like baby pictures to want to look at all these!

That's all for this weekend - GO CARDS and GO WEBMASTERS!

Oktoberfest!

I can't believe it's October already. I guess that's what happens when you have a baby and spend most of your time at home. Although, lately we have been getting out a lot!

Bridget is becoming a good little girl more and more every day. She is taking up smiling now and that makes her a lot more bearable! Though they are still few and far between, those toothless grins are super cute. She is a great sleeper at night, we just have to work on it during the day and she still has a fairly fussy time between about 4-7:30 ish, but we're working on it.

That's really all I have for today. I'll post some pics of some cute photos. This weekend we might go down to the Soulard Oktoberfest and enjoy the gorgeous weather! I bet I know a couple people who would be in for doing that!

Happy Friday to All!

The Pacifier Dance

I would imagine every mom who has ever used a pacifier to calm a nervous baby, knows exactly what I am referring to.

It's the constant up and down, eagle like watching of the in and out motion of the pacifier in the mouth, hoping beyond hope that it will stay in long enough to let the little one drift themselves into deep enough sleep that they will not notice when it does inevitably fall out. It's the nervous ready to pounce feeling as I await that first little screech signifying the pacifier has indeed left the mouth too early.

No one tells you about the pacifier dance even though I'm sure they know you will be doing the dance for the next however many months of your life. I spend probably two hours a day doing the dance. It's not bad at night, it's during the day when she needs to go to sleep that the dance occurs.

One thing I've learned about pacifiers is that they can be life savers and definitely help her to self soothe, but I've also learned they are a major pain in the rear! I am tempted to encourage the hand/thumb since she seems to find that on her own and it sure seems like it would be nice to have her automatically go to the hand, but I'm sure that's a harder habit to break long term, and someone would argue it will interfere with something. I just really don't care about habits or long term effects from harmless things that we all did as children. Perhaps I am harboring some deep issues considering I slept with my owl bottle until I was..? I don't even know - my parents would have to fill you in on that drama.

Well, that's all for today. She has finally fallen asleep I am done with the dance for right now, so that means getting to work.

If anyone even reads this little blog of mine (I know you do, Kim!), feel free to comment! I love knowing that people are reading it, even though I've done these blogs for years without sharing them, it's still nice thinking people are out there keeping up with the Jones'...err... Delantys.

Just Ducky

Here are some cute pics of the ducky outfit from Aunt Kim and Uncle Mark and Bridget hanging out with Riley.

To view the rest of Bridget's September pics, make sure to visit the collection: delanty.shutterfly.com!

9 pounds 10 ounces!

Well, we definitely have a good eater on our hands! She's not too big, just over the 60th percentile, but definitely on track. Everything else at the Dr's was great.

While she still likes to be entertained almost constantly and seems to get bored easily (something to which my mom replied, "hmmm, wonder where she gets that") we are definitely getting more used to her needs and her demands and hopefully meeting them a little bit better.

Luckily, she is great at night. She knows when to go to sleep and gets up to eat once or twice and then goes right back to sleep. Now if I can only learn to go right back to sleep, we'll be in great shape!

On another topic, Mark and Kim leave for Mexico tomorrow. I'm so jealous! I want to go on a vacation, but right now I just look forward to going to Schnucks by myself! Next summer we will definitely be heading somewhere as this is the longest Tim and I have ever gone without going somewhere! Anyway, hope you guys have fun and bring me and Bridget back something mexican - you know how we love mexican stuff! :)

That's all for now, the little one will be waking shortly and I need to get some work done before then!

New Blogger Template!

I like to keep it interesting so we got a new blog template today. I don't love this one, but it will work for now.

Bridget goes to the Dr. tomorrow for her 4 week checkup. I'm guessing she weighs over 9lbs. She is a great eater like her mom and dad. I hope she doesn't have to get shots, but I bet she does. I told Aimee I cry when my dogs have to get shots, so I can only imagine what this will be like. I wish I could get them for her as I don't mind getting shots at all.

Otherwise, she is still a little fussy these days (although not as much when she goes to Grandma and Grandpa J's.. so she goes there a lot!) and doesn't like to sleep during the day very often, but at least she doesn't cry for extended periods of time anymore. Luckily, she does like to sleep at night for at least three hours at a time so that makes my life a little easier.

I am back working again and trying to stay current with clients, so that is a challenge, but Bridget likes to sit in her bouncy chair in the morning (usually) and we all work on Custom Web for a while (the boys, too.)

I'll post some pics of her in a cute dress that Aunt Kim gave her later today.

Oh, she also helped cheer me onto victory in fantasy football yesterday and this picture is of her in her "Team Mommy" shirt. It's bad quality since it's from my cell phone, but I forgot to take one with my good camera. The little circle at the bottom says, "1-2-3 Webmasters". Webmasters is my FF team name and 1-2-3 is because my husband is a weirdo and always said that at volleyball games as our rally cry.

Well, that's all for today. I'll try and post more after the Dr's appt tomorrow.

Strong Baby Girl!

A quick week 3 update finds us doing better. Bridget has settled in a little better and maybe the medicine that we got from the Dr. helped, too. The crying has definitely lessoned and while she still has her moments, we can definitely handle them!

She is sleeping better and likes to lay on her stomach and practice lifting her head. She still doesn't really like car rides all that much, but I'm hoping that will change as I like to cart her around during the day.

Here is a picture of her holding her head up from a couple of days ago.

The Dreaded "C"

Well, as much as we expected a little spitfire of a baby, the 6-8 sometimes even more hours of unhappiness has been a little more than we had anticipated. After a much needed Dr.'s appointment yesterday, we have learned that our little Bridget may be "colicky". The Dr. said in the past they really didn't have any treatment or course of action for babies that may exhibit "extreme crying spells" and that are basically inconsolible. Now, though, they believe that most of colic stems from acid reflux. So, we are trying a nice little drug cocktail of mylanta and baby pepcid to try and see if that makes her feel better.

So far today she has slept more of the day, although still seems to only want to cry when she is awake. Regardless, sleep is a step in the right direction as yesterday she was awake from 8am until 10pm with only about 45 minutes of dozing off. She needed some rest and her parents do, too!

We'll keep you posted on the progress, but we are all settling in and even if we have a cryer, we'll still keep her - just may be calling on some babysitters more often! :)

On another note, I can't wait for Lynn and Brian's wedding this weekend! Not only selfishly for the much needed night out, but just also because we are so excited for them. We love hanging out with them and wish them the best of luck this weekend! Congrats guys!

That's all for today. I'll check in soon!

Bridget's First Week

Well, we are finally getting settled and have learned that Bridget likes a pacifier and needs a little help getting to sleep. We've had some rough nights with 0 hours of sleep, but she's also let us sleep for 4 hours at a time other nights, so we're working towards a happy medium!

I have finally posted the pictures of her entry into the world as well as many of the visitors that came to see us. Apologies to Aunt Carol and Uncle Don, Phyllis, and Lisa, Sheryl and Ronnie as I somehow didn't snap pictures with them! TPD was the official photographer, so unfortunately, when he was gone, I wasn't good with pics!

Anyway, you can check out the pics at delanty.shutterfly.com.

I just can't say thank you enough for the gifts, cards, dinners and prayers of everyone. We are so lucky and so is Miss Bridget to have you all in our lives! I will get around to personal thank you's soon, but I might need a couple more good night's sleep to begin tackling those, but I want you all to know it does mean so much to us all!

Thanks and much love until the next update!

Erin

Welcome Baby Bridget!

It's a Girl!

Bridget Ainsley Delanty
Born: August 26, 2006 at 4:16am
Weight: 7lbs 3oz
Height: 20 1/4"

She's here! It's official! We have a beautiful baby girl who, as you can see, enjoys mostly not sleeping when mommy and daddy want to and screaming. Yup, just about exactly what you would expect from our first child! While we are all still trying to adjust to lack of sleep and constant crying bouts, we love her more every minute and are happy to be home. The boys, however, may have something to say about that as they are not too sure about all this crying business!

In other exciting news, we have a poll WINNER! Congrats to Tara Justic! She was the big winner by picking almost the exact date, the exact sex and I think the exact weight. You can check out the poll results by clicking the banner below. Grandma Jo (JoAnn) came in a close second with Jessica rounding out the top three. Prizes will be awarded eventually when I can actually say I've had a couple of hours sleep! :)

For some great pictures you can check out the following links (many of you already have):

Web Nursery (please leave a comment if you can as I'm going to save this as a souvenir for her!) Bridget's Hospital Photos

Aimee Muldrow's great pictures (thanks for the great commentary A-le!): muldrow.shutterfly.com

My pictures will be up shortly as I am still sorting them and pairing them down. Even I don't want to look at 200 pictures of hospital and c-sections. So, I will post those on the blog when they are available also.

Thanks again to all of you for your cards, gifts, love and support through this. We know our baby girl is loved so much already, as are we!

Love,

Erin, Tim, Bridget, Riley and Brogan

Officially Overdue!

Well, I am officially overdue, but there are still plenty of pool dates left, so those of you with later days are looking good.

Everything is fine with mom (besides getting really anxious) and baby, we did a monitoring test on Friday and the baby passed with flying colors, so he or she is good to stay put a while longer. They think my due date may have been a little off anyway, so we are just going to hang out for a while.

Will post an update should conditions change. Here is a picture of me today. Sorry, I'm a little bored, so I thought I would document my overdueness in a photo (very au natural - sans makeup!)

The flowers are from TPD. He brought me them last night because; 1) he knows how hard all the waiting is, and 2) he got to play golf while his 2day overdue pregnant wife piddled around all day.

Stay tuned!

Big Pool Day!

August 17th - not only Becky's 30th, but also my grandparents 60th wedding anniversary. There were many people pulling for this day, but so far doesn't seem like it's gonna happen!

Today got the most votes in the baby pool, with 6 people guessing it would be today. I thought today would be good, too, but I guess it's back to waiting - which absolutely sucks, by the way!

We'll keep you posted, but so far nothing to report!

One Week to Go - Baby Pool Update

Well, tomorrow will officially be one week until the big D-Day! I can't believe it - even though at times it seems like I've been pregnant for five years, I still can't quite believe we will soon have a little one!

A quick baby pool update has the scales tipping in favor of a little eej. You can check out the progress and see the dates and other guesses at:

So far, here is the boy/girl ratio:

Baby Pool Time! Hurry up!

Sorry for the delay on getting this rolling, but you still have plenty of time. The baby pool is up and live and it's time to make your guesses.

Remember, we don't know boy or girl (you can check out the ultrasound pic below to see if you can tell) and the due date is officially August 18th.

More Mexican for ME and Baby!

My friends/family know me a little too well. Two showers - two mexican fiesta's - what more could a 9 mos. pregnant girl ask for?

The pictures are of the fantastic Chevy's fajita buffet and the diaper cake that Kim made me. It is so cute - I don't know if I'll ever be able to disassemble it to actually use the diapers! :)

I had a great time and got so many great things. It makes everything more real and I know that before too long we'll actually be using all this stuff!!

How cute is this cake? It is from Lubely's of course.
